I have to admit that as a mom I have a huge soft spot for first time parents. In my opinion, it's the one of the rare times in a couple's life together that such a drastic change occurs. A change that opens the door to another world beyond anything they could have imagined. No words, advice or books can prepare or even come close to bringing light to emotions that had never before been felt. It's amazing, undeniably unique for everyone and one of the little miracles that we are blessed to experience. Sheena and Chris are about to experience that joyous miracle!
To say I am happy for them is also a ridiculous understatement- I am Over-The-Moon!!! To first be blessed to photograph their wedding, now the upcoming addition to their family and soon to be newborn little girl, what an honor and a privilege!!! I can not think of a better compliment for any photographer than that of being invited to continue to document life at any and every stage. Well, maybe one more...like, the perfect middle name... uh, ummm "Kathryn"! Oh, WAIT...that IS sweet Ella's middle name too- YAY!!! Though the original source is from Sheena's best friend, I really don't mind sharing ;)
I love that they still have that little sparkle in their eyes when they look at each other- I pray that it never fades, that is such a special gift we can all give our children...a real living example of unconditional love, respect and adoration :)
One of the things I love most about the on location sessions is that you never know what will happen. It's so much fun catching up, laughing and sharing little jokes, but also the little surprise visitors who show up, too. Well, can you blame him...I wouldn't want to miss the party either!
We ended the session with a series of simple reflections and uninterrupted quiet moments together. I love how emotion comes across so well on black and white images- nothing at all to distract they eye; just what's happening right at that moment...at that one particular point in time, nothing else in the world matters.
Congratulations to Sheena and Chris!!! I can not wait to meet the beautiful Ella Kathryn :)
