Riley's Birthday Bash

It is no secret that an unofficial tradition has begun...Every year for my nephew's birthday he gets to choose what he wants to have at his party....and every year he has chosen a BIG WATER SLIDE!!!
As you can guess, it is a huge hit with all the kids (and adults too- I love it!). So, not only do we look forward to the trips to go see my big sis and her family (really, really- love you guys!!!) but the water slide is always a nice bonus :)
(Jen snapped the picture below while giving my new camera a little test drive- thanks!)

We arrived late the night before and everyone waited up- the kids had fallen asleep in the car, but Riley ran out to meet us and Hudson was recharged and ready to go! They played and played...but not for too long because Riley had a baseball game in the morning. Now, for most kids the idea of leaving the house as the BIG water slide was being set up would be a very difficult decision- not Riley...he LOVES baseball!!!So, Adam, Noah and I tagged along with Ronald and Riley to watch the game (Hudson stayed back to break the slide in with Reese-LOL!). Riley did so great- he cheered, hit, ran, caught and threw that ball with such passion and with the biggest smile on his face the entire time!
Noah was surprisingly focused on the game! (usually running ALL OVER the place, this is very rare for him to just sit still and watch!)
Watching the little players was so enjoyable! This summer league puts more focus on the FUNdamentals and building teamwork- they do not keep score. As some of the kids talked in the dugout about other things, Riley listened to every word the coaches said as they called out the line up and instructions for the team. He was so focused on the game...every time they came in, he grabbed his helmet and a bat and was ready for his turn at the plate...Then, as fast as it began the game was over- but in true Riley fashion, he continued to have fun to the last moment on the field- just guess which one he is in the image below (I wish I had 1/10th of his energy)...Back at the house it was straight to business...
WHEEEWWWWW- HOOOOOO!
Riley and his friends wore themselves out with snow cones, watermelon, cake, playing on the swings, bashing in pinatas, running, jumping, sliding, laughing, splashing and pretty much anything else that kids love to do!Above: Reese hanging out and Hudson eating watermelon, his favorite! The cake was sooo cute- a huge dinosaur that once the kids saw it there was no turning back...at least I was able to snap this shot before the poor thing was completely devoured!Everyone had such a wonderful time (just one example of it- Farise and Jodi blow fish face kisses- sooo sweet!) The grand finale was the dinosaur pinata (that only took one whack from Riley to send all the prizes flying) and the water guns with a gift card for Brewster's Ice Cream! Yeah- this party ROCKED!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RILEY!!!!
