100 blog posts- wow!!! And it's a loooong one :)
I can not think of anything being more appropriate to be my 100th post than celebrating seven years of being married to the most wonderful man in the world! I am continually thankful for Adam and how much he loves and supports me and our boys. Not only is he a wonderful family man, husband, father and best friend, he also cooks many of our family dinners and cleans the bathroom (jackpot!!!)
On what was a first for us (a getaway without the kids), we hit the road to celebrate our anniversary and spend the weekend in beautiful Savannah, Georgia!
We stayed at the Riverfront Marriott, left the truck parked and enjoyed walking the historic bayfront, squares and all over downtown. We have been to Savannah before, but usually on business so this was a real treat to be on our own time with literally no agenda but to enjoy the city and each other.
It's funny how sleeping in seems like a much better idea than it actually is. We are used to our two little alarm clocks so the luxury is kind of lost on us, even on vacation. The real treat was waking up to realize we did not have to fix breakfast and with it just being the two of us getting ready was a breeze! We ate our breakfast overlooking the bay and then headed out to Paula Deen's to get our name on the list for lunch (or so we thought...)
Once we made it there (at 9:30am) and saw that the line was completely wrapped around the building, our plans changed...is a meal really worth standing in line for 2+ hours baking in the sun??? Not really- we had eaten there before so it was not a huge disappointment. But we had a gift card, so plan B was to go to Uncle Bubba's Oyster House :) Adam called to make reservations for a late lunch and went on with our day in Savannah. Besides spending some nice quality time with each other, another goal for the trip was to create a portfolio of black and white images focusing on the architecture, history and beauty of Savannah- which is another reason I love Adam so much- he doesn't mind helping tote the equipment everywhere and is so patient until I have gotten the shot I am looking for. Once we had had enough of the heat and our legs where just about to give out we decided to head back to the hotel...we must have walked almost 5 miles in all-a nice cool shower was top on our list!
Clean and Refreshed, we hopped in the truck and headed over to Uncle Bubba's where we walked right in and was seated in a bright, 50's inspired dining room overlooking the water. Adam took one look at the menu and smiled..."What do you think about the chargrilled oysters," he asked me..."I don't like oysters!" I told him- then he read me the description.....and I thought they would be worth a try!And they were! The are seasoned with garlic butter and topped with browned parmesan cheese and HUGE!!! We probably could have skipped the rest of the dinner all together and been fine they were so filling! We really enjoyed it there and were actually very thankful that Paula Deen's was so crowded or we may not had decided to come out. After we paid Adam looked at the receipt (at the bottom was a coupon for a free entree with purchase of another entree on your next visit)... we looked at each other and laughed because I knew exactly what he was thinking- he wanted to come back tomorrow for some more oysters...lol!
After our early dinner I convinced him to let me take some pictures of us for our anniversary. Outside was the cute little tug that was actually a play area for kids, but we borrowed it for a few minutes. The picture below was taken using the self timer and hanging off of the large view thingy that was on the boat (like at the zoo- Adam is looking out of it in the next picture- I know, crazy but it worked-ha!)This one was for the kids :) ARRRggg....After our lunch we drove back downtown for some more sightseeing. The only real thing we had on the agenda for the rest of the evening was getting ice cream! We stopped in at Leopold's that just happened to be celebrating 90 years of serving ice cream!Funny thing- the ice cream kicked off more hunger :) so then after a little bit of walking we headed to Lenny's on Broughton Street to split their famous philly hot off the grill- yum! After lingering a little longer and visiting with some locals, we headed back to the hotel to sit by the bay and watch the boats- that's when I surprised Adam with a bottle of wine with our label on it...I used a picture from our wedding, he loved it!(He doesn't play the piano...we where just having some fun!)
Below is just a little sneak peak at the Savannah Series, I can not wait to share more. This was my first self assigned task where pure black and white was the objective- more to come soon!

The beautiful dark blues, pinks and oranges filled the sky as we sipped our wine, laughed and talked about what a wonderful time we were having together doing absolutely nothing! We had an amazing time in just a matter of a couple of days and missed the boys terribly. We cut our final day short (after the lunch at Bubba's again- ha!) and headed to pick them up from Adam's brother's house (thank you Justin and Bri!).
What a great seven years- I look forward to a lifetime more- love you, Adam and thank you for such a romantic and simple weekend!!!
