The Hartley Family

I am so excited to share these precious images from one of my favorite families. Clay, Adam (my hubby) and I grew up together in our little ole' small town with one red-light where everyone knew everyone and you better believe any news would make it back to your momma before you even stepped a foot off the bus- yes, it was that small of a town, ha!

We played sports together and still have our family cookouts whenever we can all get our schedules in sync. Friends like these I am forever thankful for!

It goes without saying that his three beautiful girls (well, four including their lovely momma) were the stars of the day- each so individual and with their own very unique personalities :)

But, honestly baby brother wasn't too far behind them- though he was finishing his nap at the beginning of the session, he was ready to go with those sweet chubby cheeks and bright eyes when it came time for his turn. I LOVE this image of him and Crystal- she has the prettiest smile!

Just had to include a couple with Daddy's cowboy hat- just for fun! The last picture always gets the biggest smiles from the kids....hummm, could it be the ice cream trip that was coming up next :)

and of course some of the girls just being girls...

Love you all to pieces Hartley Family!!!
xoxo,

The Hunter Family

To be absolutely honest I feel like it's like Christmas every single time I get to see Chris and Sheena! And now the bonus of their sweet baby girl makes it even more fabulous!!!

They are just absolutely so beautiful inside and out and their love for each other and baby Ella just pours out. I loved watching them play and laugh together, those are truly some of the best moments in life!

Oh, it just goes to show us all how much we have to be thankful for and to celebrate this holiday season (and really all year round!) xoxo!

The Shields Family

There are those certain people in life that you are just meant to meet. Amie and her sweet family is the perfect example of those! Our family has been so blessed by her service as the director of First Baptist Children's Academy and see such a strong foundation not only in our boys but every student there.

Working with her family was such a complete joy, and the kids are just absolutely the sweetest. Landon and our Noah are the same age and have the same demeanor around the camera so he made me feel right at home- and completed the success of the days photos with a high five to Mom  :)

And big brother and sis were wonderful with their smaller brothers, especially chasing after lil' Hayden!

Thank you so much for inviting me to capture your family- what a blessing you are to us all!

xoxo, K :)

The Akins' Family

The Akins' family is just plum full of sweetness, energy and absolute love of fun. I don't think any of us stopped laughing for very long during their family session.

In order to keep up with Annabell, we kept moving and pretty fast paced. Though we did take some breaks in between. And one of my favorites of those breaks is just letting kids be kids and show off a bit (aka get the sillies out). This series is what we like to call Annabell Unleashed :)

What can I say, I LOVE what I do and working with some amazing families who let me capture just a little piece of their lives through photographs :)

Oh, almost forgot.... this one proves where where Miss A. gets her liveliness from (not pointing any fingers though, lol!)

Mommy Mondays {An Extra Day}

Ahhhh.... We just returned from such a fabulous and relaxing spring break in Jacksonville.
The pool, the beach, the zoo and lots of F-U-N family time :)

Micheli got her first set of water wings and Hudson assisted in her crash course swimming lessons.
After a fun day at the beach we were barely out of the parking lot when the last little set of eyes closed and the ride home was oh-so-peaceful!!!

Even had time to squeeze in a new shorter haircut and a pedi date with my little sis. It was heaven!
It's funny how even after a full week of this splendid relaxation I still needed one extra day to recover from packing, unpacking, repacking, traveling back home and unpacking once again- Agh! But, no worries... after all, that's what Mondays are made for.

Happy Monday!

Mommy Mondays {Something New}

These past few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind from surgery and recovery at Duke, Christmas, New Years and Adam's current stay at Northeast Georgia Hospital for Physical Therapy Rehab. We have adjusted to a new temporary routine and the kids have been amazing every step of the way. In the light of my new #1 job of taking care of Adam (and of course the kiddos) I am going to do something a little new for the next several weeks for Mommy Mondays...Movie Reviews, ha!

Movies have been the one easy thing to do as a family with Adam in the hospital that accomplishes many things at once for the kids...
1) Spend Time with Daddy
2) Entertain (without the boys fighting)
3) Quiet

Through the help of friends and family we have been able to have family movie nights where me and the boys spend the night with Adam and pick a movie, have popcorn and hot chocolate (and Micheli gets to have a night out without her brothers playing with friends and cousins).

We mostly make due with the Blockbuster Express rentals (we cancelled our DVD by mail from Netflix and still have streaming but the wi-fi connection at the hospital is no where near fast enough to keep the movie streaming online). So, the movies may be a little older than new releases, but hopefully the reviews will be helpful and at the very least entertaining :)

First up is COWBOYS AND ALIENS starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford
Rated PG-13

Adam and I previewed this first to make sure it was ok for the boys (well, I mainly previewed and Adam slept, ha!) Besides from the aliens and a little bit of fighting it was pretty tame for the boys but may not be everyone's ideal family movie. They love action anyway and when you throw in Cowboys, Indians and Aliens it makes it really exciting.

I will be honest though, when I saw the previews for this I thought it was a little out of reach and something that I would definitely not waste my time watching but Adam wanted to see it so I went for it.

Set in 1875, A cowboy (Daniel Craig) wonders into a mining town from the wilderness without any memory of who he is. It quickly comes to light that he is an outlaw wanted for various crimes. Not too long after the aliens attack and begin snatching up the people with very unique mini planes and harpoon type harnesses. Because the cowboy has a pretty awesome bracelet on his wrist that can fight the aliens and a respectful/hero-like demeanor the townsfolk choose to trust him and let him lead them to save their loved ones. Harrison Ford plays the part of a wealthy Cattle Owner (and former Colonel) whose son is among the taken. He pairs up with Daniel Craig and a few other brave volunteers to help organize the rescue efforts.

Surprisingly, I really liked it (and enough to watch it twice!). The beginning is a tad slow for the kids, but once the alien mini invasion started their eyes were glued to the movie. Over all the characters were well written and defined, the acting was great and the special effects were realistic even in the old west setting. Somehow they managed to make it all work and create a story line that really keeps your attention and tugs at your heart. I would definitely recommend watching it :)

Kids Rating: 4 Stars
This would be a combined total- Noah would give is a 5 for all the Cowboys and Indians, Hud would probably give it a 3 or so because he wanted to see more Aliens.

Mommy Rating: 4 Stars
I really did like it and despite my initial assumptions I was really surprised. We are all Harrison Ford fans (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.) so that was a very good turnout :)
The last 80% of the movie kept the kids attention and for a PG-13 rating I really can't recall anything I winced at while the kids were watching it.

Rent it or Buy it...Definitely rent it first and it just may be a candidate for adding to our DVD library (or we could just wait for it to be streaming on Netflix).

Notes on Ratings:
We are a big moving family and with Adam and the Boys definitely lean more towards action, adventure and comedy. A 5 star movie for our family would be movies like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. I personally base my ratings on entertainment and the amount of attention it keeps for the boys. Additionally a 5 star would be one that we can watch over and over and not get too tired of.

Mommy Mondays {Everyday}

This week as we celebrate Thanksgiving and finally take some time away from all the "to-do" lists of work, home and little projects I thought that today's post could focus on some of the everyday blessings that fly by in a blur as we are on our mission of crossing the next thing off the list. It really is stunning how time seems to pass by way too fast when we do finally stop just for a brief second to take it all in.

My wonderful friend Shain took these photos when he visited us and I am so thankful! It's these everyday moments that really mean the most and encompasses pretty much everything that we work for!

Happy Thanksgiving and hope you enjoy the everyday moments with your family :)

Mommy Mondays {Just for Fun}

I came across this cute cartoon by Rod Maclean on a teacher's site and thought it was just perfect. Back to School time is so bittersweet for me as a mom; I miss the kiddos, but boy do I get a lot done :)

Happy Monday!
